The Team: The Global Inclusion & Purpose (GI&P) Team was formally constituted as a Center of Excellence in the People & Culture (P&C) operation with a core mission of constructing compelling, aspirational yet realistic strategies, objectives and plans that further enables the P&C strategy through initiatives designed to elevate Morningstar as an employer of choice and responsible corporate citizen that takes an inclusive approach to all aspects of the business across a global footprint.

The Opportunity: We are searching for a Director of Inclusion & Equity Practices. Reporting to the Head of Global Inclusion & Purpose, this role will serve as lead DEI advisor to business units and corporate functions with oversight of the employee resource groups, strategic partnerships, and reporting and analytics. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, agile, self-directed, and curious professional who thrives in an evolving and growth environment, is a continuous learner and thought leader who is enthusiastic about DEI, and is proficient at designing, building, and executing end to end programs and processes organization wide. With broad knowledge of DEI principles and practices, action-oriented execution, and measurement focus, the ideal candidate excels in building and influencing cross-functionally at all levels to cultivate collaborative relationships that drive results, engages team members, promotes equitable workforce outcomes, and takes innovative approaches to linking DEI practices to key business drivers.This position is based out of our Chicago office (or other regional offices) and hybrid attendance is required.

Summary

The Director of Inclusion & Equity Practices will work closely with the entire Global Inclusion & Purpose team, members of the People & Culture team, and other groups as needed to ensure execution of the DEI strategy and drive successful outcomes across the enterprise. Areas of focus include, but are not limited to, strategy execution, stakeholder management, talent mobility, multicultural leadership pipeline development, continuous learning initiatives, workplace culture, team member engagement, strategic partnerships, communication, workforce compliance, ERG effectiveness, DEI governance and business alignment.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or commensurate work experience in corporate DEI strategy and operations in roles of expanded responsibilities (preferred) - US or Global
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Human Resources, DEI, Organizational Effectiveness/Development, Talent Management/Development, Multicultural Strategies, or similar.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills with experience presenting to high profile stakeholder groups, including CEOs and other senior executives, senior leadership teams, Board of Directors, and team members at all levels and functions
  • Highly collaborative with ability to effectively integrate inclusive practices across other People & Culture Centers of Excellence and other business processes as needed.
  • Agile with ability to manage multiple competing projects and programs with the added competency of managing without authority or managing through ambiguity to meet evolving needs of the organization
  • Ability to set meaningful goals and execute towards accomplishment in a timely manner
  • Experience effectively managing third-party strategic partnerships
  • Influence and change management capabilities to introduce and integrate new concepts and ideas with peers and stakeholder groups throughout the organization
  • High-functioning grasp of cross-cultural competency principles and adaptable to various work styles, perspectives, and organizational micro-cultures to drive intended outcomes.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Program / Project Management

  • Work closely with Head of Global Inclusion & Purpose, DEI Leads and Program Managers to drive implementation of Business Unit DEI Actions Plans directly with business units
  • Optimize a DEI governance model, including employee resource groups, inclusion advisory councils and other forms of strategic working groups to imbed DEI strategy in the lines of business.
  • Coordinate, implement and manage key strategic DEI programs and initiatives to impact talent acquisition, learning and development strategies, inclusive workplace culture, and brand awareness across multiple geographies.
  • Promote active and systemic integration of DEI practices into organizational policies, practices, and operations to drive inclusion and fortify a sustainable DEI operation.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Develop and standardize, DEI scorecards and dashboards reporting through analysis of workforce metrics, employee engagement pulse results, and other key measurements to mitigate gaps and measure success of DEI practices.
  • Benchmark and elevate awareness of leading-edge DEI best practices to build effective programming and continuing education initiatives for stakeholders as needed.
  • Partner with HR Operations, Corporate Social Responsibility, Communications, and other internal partners to contribute to benchmarking surveys.

Communications

  • Collaborate with Internal Communications, Corporate Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, Investor Relations, Legal, and other internal partners to develop and keep currency of relevant content for internal and external DEI messaging (i.e., employee communications, intranet, and internet pages, etc.), and support annual updating of the Sustainability Report.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Support submission, monitoring and tracking of Affirmative Action Plans and Compliance reporting, including driving required effective effort planning, as needed.
  • Actively stays abreast of regulatory and compliance matters related to diversity and equity inclusion.
