POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Producer - Graphic Design

LOCATION/DEPT: DHQ/Program Department/NCI Productions

REPORTS to (TITLE): Director of Productions

FLSA CATEGORY: Non-Exempt

OUTCOMES

NCI Productions aims to engage, equip, and support the mission of the North and Central Illinois Division by leveraging the power of visual and audio communication mediums. Our goal is to remain at the forefront of media technologies, setting a standard for mission engagement through exceptional event production, video creation and graphic design. We strive to inspire and connect with our donors, volunteers, clients, and program participants through compelling visual and audio storytelling that communicates The Salvation Army's ministry impact. By maximizing the effectiveness of our communication efforts, we aim to strengthen support, increase engagement, and foster a deeper understanding of the life-changing work carried out by The Salvation Army North and Central Division.

Program Staff, Development and Communication Staff, Divisional Headquarters and units will be fully supported in their graphic communications needs through review, edit and creation of quality printed [and digital] materials consistent with determined Divisional graphic identity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Graphic Design (70%)

  1. Create and Design visually appealing and engaging graphics that effectively convey The Salvation Army's messages across various platforms.
    1. Serve client departments and sites with update of existing designs and new design layout as assigned.
    2. Ensure Divisional standards are effectively communicated.
    3. Updates are consistently made to existing materials.
    4. Provide excellent client service through setting and meeting mutually agreed upon expectations.
  2. Design elements comply with Divisional guidelines.
    1. Timelines/deadlines are set and consistently met.
    2. Ongoing communication with client departments on project progress.
  3. Manage Digital Asset Library

Video & Photography (20%)

  1. Capture powerful and emotive photographs that showcase the ministry impact of The Salvation Army.
    1. Assist Video Producer in the production of videos to engage and inspire our audience (Donors, Volunteers, Officers, and Program Participants) through visually captivating storytelling.
    2. Produce high-quality images that can be utilized for promotional materials, campaigns, and media outreach.

Event Production (10%)

  1. Assist in in set-up of audio, video, lighting and staging equipment for live events
    1. Assist in rehearsal and technical run-throughs to ensure smooth operation and coordination during live events.
    2. Create and operate visual on-screen graphics (i.e, Power Point, ProPresenter, etc.).

OCCASIONAL OVERNIGHT AND WEEKEND TRAVEL

  • Occasionally travel overnight to provide on-site support and assistance at Divisional Events.
  • Manage proper setup and operation of audiovisual equipment during live events.
  • Collaborate with the event team to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure a successful live event experience.
  • Occasionally work weekends to accommodate event schedules, or other organizational needs. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet production deadlines and ensure successful event execution.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Director of Productions.

Tin contacts related to this position's duties, this individual acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

The individual will be evaluated on how effectively the outcomes of this position are achieved, as well as the timeliness and completeness of accomplishing assigned goals.

An evaluation of client satisfaction will also be done.

A 30, 60, and 90-day performance review will be conducted.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's degree in graphic arts/design is desired. Comparable experience in graphics can be considered.
  • Minimum of two years experience with computer-based graphic design and corollary programs.
  • Experience in a non-profit organization preferred.
  • Exposure to coordinating the administrative details of a design area.
  • Valid Driver's license/MVR clearance

COMPENTENCIES

  • Willing to promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Knowledge of PC graphic design programs and systems, including Adobe CC: In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere.
  • Knowledge and ability to shoot digital photographic images.
  • Knowledge of or a willingness and aptitude to learn the concepts involved with live event programing.
  • Demonstrated skill in project management.
  • Knowledge of services, policies, and procedures related to Salvation Army processes.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self starter.
  • An attention to detail, procedures, processes, and policies.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations/priorities.
  • An ability to work with confidential material.
  • A decision making approach that uses good judgment.

POSITION LIMITATIONS (What this position must do)

  • This individual will only commit Army resources that have been allocated or approved.
  • This individual will keep the Director of Productions informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
  • This individual will adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position is required to do light physical work and must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to use standard office equipment and a PC.
  • The work environment for this position normally includes an office environment with a low to moderate noise level.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
