Overview

Bermello Ajamil, a Woolpert Company (BA) has an immediate opening in its HQ office in Coral Gables, Florida for a Planner to head up projects for the firm's Maritime Group. Ideal candidates would have ideally worked on planning projects for ports, cruise terminals, and piers. The Planner leads planning and design work, prepares reports for/makes presentations to senior management and clients alike. AICP certification is preferred, as well as a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning or related field.

Responsibilities
    Responsible for creating, developing, and implementing phased master plans for the efficient use of maritime resources in cruise port / waterfront / island facilities, including land side and water side infrastructure.
  • Manage complex planning studies and provide professional planning assistance.
  • Collaborate with port authorities, government agencies, cruise lines, terminal operators, private developers, and other key stakeholders to ensure compliance with maritime regulations and standards, as well as operations and functions of a facility.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and sustainability initiatives to minimize the ecological footprint of cruise facility / port operations.
  • Plan and coordinate the allocation of berths and resources to accommodate cruise ships, cargo vessels, tourism boats, yachts, and other small boats.
  • Will oversee the maintenance of databases, graphics, simulation modelling software tools, and mapped material.
Qualifications
  • Professional degree (Bachelor's/Master's) in Urban Planning / Design
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, M-Color, AutoTURN, Revit, SketchUp, and/or other related software. High level computer and hand sketch graphic communication. GIS and Adobe Suite knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of maritime logistics, cruise, cargo and marina operations, and port infrastructure is highly desired.
  • Experience in Port Master Planning and/or Urban Site Planning.
  • Experience with architectural / engineering concepts and construction documents, nautical charts, bathymetric, wave and wind documentation highly desired.
  • Experience with traffic and passenger flows highly desired.
  • Familiarity with environmental and sustainability practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with diverse teams and stakeholders and to help negotiate agreements.
  • LEED Accreditation preferred.
  • APA Accreditation preferred.
