Position Summary | To provide library services to the Health Sciences programs, including Applied Health Sciences, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nutrition Science, Sport Management, Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician's Assistant Studies, and Nursing. This is a Librarian level position that, in conjunction with other librarians, participates in reference, liaison, outreach, instruction, and collection development activities. |
Description of Key Responsibilities | 1. Participate in reference, liaison, and collection development activities for the Health Sciences, including but not limited to:
2. Teach course integrated instructional sessions for students, faculty, and staff, which may include team-teaching. 3. Prepare instructional materials in a variety of modalities, maintain content in digital tools like LibGuides, and collaborate with others when appropriate. 4. With the Director's approval, may participate in library grant applications. 5. Cooperate as a team member with the library services staff in performing any duties essential to efficient library operations. 6. Attend seminars and training sessions to improve or update position-oriented skills and knowledge, when appropriate and funds permit. 7. Participate in local, state, and national library organizations, when appropriate and funds permit. 8. Fulfill other job-related duties as assigned by designated supervisor(s). Distinguishing Characteristics | The person in this position should have library or educational experience that enables them to support faculty, undergraduates, and graduates in the Health Sciences. This person is part of a highly collaborative team and works with the campus community so excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. |
Education/Training | Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution is required. |
Experience | Work experience or education in the Health Sciences is required. Reference experience and knowledge of online and print resources and services is required. Teaching or library instruction experience is strongly preferred. Collection development experience in an academic library setting is preferred. |
