The Role

We are looking for a Product Manager to join the Central Technology Product Development team in support of Morningstar's Business Intelligence Reporting. This position is based in our Chicago office. The Product Manager is expected to play a pivotal role in executing the Central Technology product roadmap, developing a three-year plan on central technology data strategy. Active coordination will be required with Engineering, QA, Program Manager, Project Managers, and the Product Manager & other roles.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the product development team and business stakeholders to help set short-term, medium-term & strategic priorities for Morningstar's Business Intelligence Reporting.

  • Work with key stakeholders to help define and write requirements and user stories for new product features.

  • Execute product roadmap collaborating within Agile principles managing the backlog and planning the iterations.

  • Define clear product visionand identify growth opportunities.

  • Manage program documentation repository and assist with presentations on program updates.

  • Understand Corporate System data part of Finance, Marketing, Sales, Workday and Client Services to build business intelligence reporting.

  • Track and report key performance metrics.

  • Understand multiple data sources and put together practical and viable data models for the analytics reports being prepared.

  • Assist with validation of data and product builds.

  • Leverage AI across all aspects of central technology to support automation enabled infrastructure.

  • Partner with vendors and assist with regular vendor communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4-5 years of product management experience.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced global environment while delivering high-quality work.

  • Ability to translate complex technical decisions into simple to understand business outcomes.

  • Having an extremely high-quality bar on documentation, especially when it comes to defining problem statements, writing product specifications and acceptance criteria.

  • Having a go-getter attitude, being self-directed, detail-orientated & possessing good interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to create structure from ambiguous situations.

  • Working Agile experience - Scrum methodology, JIRA or equivalent story writing tool. Product backlog, sprint backlog, story estimation and prioritization, creation of user stories, acceptance criteria.

  • Strong people skills to support collaboration across functions and organizations.

  • Experience in Business Intelligence Reporting (SQL, Tableau and/or Informatica) is a plus.

  • Experience in financial services is a plus.
