Position Summary

The Finance Department at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science invites applications for a full-time Finance Assistant. The Finance Assistant will perform accounting, finance, and administrative duties for the Finance Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provide support to the Finance Department functional teams, including but not limited to, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Treasury. Specific support tasks may include:

  • Prepare journal entries
  • Prepare monthly account analysis, ensuring reconciling items are resolved timely
  • Perform budget or expense transfers
  • Perform internal audit procedures (e.g. review approvals for consistency with the RFU Approval Hierarchy)
  • Support cash handling in accordance with the Cash Management Policy
  • Provide back-up assistance to certain functions and processes
  • Provide clerical support to Finance leadership as requested
  • Adhere to internal controls while driving continuous process and documentation improvement
  • Create and maintain appropriate filing systems, including physical and electronic records
  • Build strong relationships with departments across the University and Health Clinics
  • Contribute to the success of the University by performing all other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of experience in a related accounting position or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Higher education experience
  • Nonprofit experience
  • Ellucian/Colleague experience
