That's why we're looking for a Retirement Benefits Specialist to help us support the Firm's retirement and benefits programs and administration.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for...

  • The day-to-day administration and communication of Venable's retirement programs, including 401(k), profit sharing and cash balance plans, and other retirement savings programs.
  • Educating employees and resolving questions about the retirement benefit options available to them, providing guidance on plan features, enrollment procedures, investment options, and contribution limits.
  • Assisting employees in understanding and interpreting retirement plan documents, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, plan rules, and regulations.
  • Coordinating with external benefit plan administrators, recordkeepers, and investment managers to ensure accurate and timely processing of retirement plan contributions, distributions, loans, and other transactions; Assisting Director and Manager with annual plan audits, 5500s, and other needs as they may arise.
  • Drafting all Benefits letters related to onboarding, promotions, verification of benefits and departures for employees.
  • Overseeing the reconciliation process for all benefit invoices and bill payments.
  • Partnering with COBRA vendor to ensure data accuracy regarding subsidies and invoicing.
  • Administering the Tuition Reimbursement Program, assisting with the Open Enrollment process and providing back up for benefits onboarding sessions.

The successful candidate will demonstrate...

  • Minimum of three years of related experience, including working knowledge and hands on experience with retirement benefits administration or related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of retirement benefit plans, including 401(k), profit sharing plans, and other defined contribution plans including regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience working with retirement plan vendors, recordkeepers, and investment managers.
  • Strong understanding of investment options, asset allocation, and retirement planning strategies.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations governing retirement benefits, such as ERISA, IRS regulations, and Department of Labor guidelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret retirement plan documents and resolve benefit-related issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate retirement benefit concepts to employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with integrity.
