Job Description

The Process Specialist I provides support to engineers and designers and is responsible to facilitate the processing of plans required by state, county and/or local governments.

Supervision Received

The Process Specialist I works under the direct, but general, supervision of the Process Specialist III, Department Manager, Chief Engineer or Senior Engineer.

Essential Responsibilities

    Deliver and pick up plan submittals.
  • Act as liaison between department and county staff; facilitate dialogue between parties.
  • Process and file building, grading, SWM, and NPDES permit applications.
  • Meet with county reviewers to resolve permitting or processing issues.
  • Prepare and process county required mailings to adjacent property owners.
  • Coordinate sign postings for new projects.
  • Calculate and process project permit fees, securities, meter fees, etc.
  • Frequently drive to project/client sites to complete tasks or attend meetings.
  • Research county files for development history for properties and/or existing utility and road plans.
  • Perform internet research to obtain project requirements for various jurisdictions.
  • Assist project managers with various administrative duties: type, letters, memos, comments, responses; scan plans and organize project files.

Position Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Entry Level - administrative experience in engineering firm highly desirable.
  • Possess core competency in assigned discipline.
  • Hold valid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving practices.
  • Good written and oral expression in English.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
