Job Dimensions

As part of the plant operations team, this person will collaborate with technical staff, business group, corporate technology and engineering consultants to provide process engineering support.The Process Engineer must be hands on and data focused, with the ability to work well with operators, plant maintenance teams, plant scheduling, and other multi-discipline teams. The Process Engineer will train and qualify as a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt and drive Lean Six Sigma processes in the operation.


Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Regularly engage with operators on the plant floor to learn, optimize and troubleshoot process.
  • Support new product development with production trial coordination and troubleshooting.
  • Support DCS system (Delta-V)
  • Update and maintain Process and Production Data collection systems (SAP and other Database systems).
  • Drive standardization of process operation conditions and reduce process and measurement variability.
  • Utilize Lean/Six-Sigma techniques to drive improvement into our processes and projects.
  • Conduct and use MOC process to document and control process changes.
  • Develop and drive production cost improvement initiatives.
  • Support plant compliance with safety and environmental related regulatory requirements including OSHA, PSM, RMP, as well as other company policies and programs.
  • Lead and contribute to capital and non-capital improvement projects throughout the Calumet City site.
  • Demonstrate project management skills, include Stage-Gate process.
  • Guide and participate in quality and process upset investigations including root cause analysis.
  • Develop and implement improvements in the quality control process and system.
  • Support optimal performance of multiple production processes.

Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required.
  • 6+ years' experience in manufacturing environment (chemical industry preferred)
  • Experience with process safety and high hazard environment preferred
