Job Description

Job Summary

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for testing and monitoring quality of all products.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Completes profiles on production finished materials and on product purchases and shipments per Company standards.
  • Serves as liaison between the plant and Central Lab with respect to product quality.
  • Obtain, package, and ship samples for testing to Central Lab
  • Submit test results to Supervisor, General Manager and Plant Manager.
  • Responsible for FDA trained - Preventive Controls Qualified Individual for plant
    • Conducts training of employees in FSMA compliance, including CGMPs, Food Safety plans and preventive controls.
    • Site inspections, sampling, log review, and report preparation to ensure compliance in:
      • Biosecurity
      • Feed Safety
      • Product compliance
    • Ensures compliance with local, state and federal environmental, safety, and HACCP regulations.
    • Perform quality analyses on finished products.
    • Maintains lab, materials, and work area in clean condition.
    • Maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
    • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Understanding of basic chemistry.
  • One year prior laboratory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work well with others in a team, management, and regulatory environment.
  • Highly organized; superior time management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and oral.
  • Safety-conscious; detail oriented, with ability to multi-task.
  • Good computer skills.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Occasionally push, pull, move, or lift 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in an office, lab, or plant environment.
