Essential Functions*:

  • Design mechanical systems for new and existing industrial automation equipment to manufacture small caliber ammunition/components.
  • Evaluate and design alternatives to existing machinery that will improve efficiency, reliability, product quality, safety, and reduce cost.
  • Prepare Capital Requests for equipment related projects. Project responsibility will begin at concept and continue through implementation with an ongoing support role after equipment enters operation.
  • Work closely with vendors throughout the quotation, design, and build process to ensure new equipment conforms to specifications.
  • Assist Maintenance in troubleshooting equipment, including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Recommend and implement equipment and process improvements.
  • Direct and coordinate internal and external personnel on the installation of new equipment and equipment improvements.

Position Requirements*:

  • Bachelor of Science or Master's Degree** in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum five years of recent related machine design experience required.
  • Microsoft Office is required; Inventor and AutoCAD experience ispreferred.
  • Experience with mechanical troubleshooting of automation equipment preferred.
  • Experience with power presses, packing equipment, and parts feeding systems preferred.
  • Ammunition and firearm experience along with knowledge of the shooting industry preferred.
  • Must be creative, self-motivated, and an independent thinker.
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
