Number of Positions: 1

This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.

Under general supervision, functions as a lead worker in the operation and maintenance of high volume, high speed photocopier equipment and bindery devices to prepare, print, and finish materials, and performs related duties as required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Operates high volume, high speed photocopier equipment to produce a variety of print materials with various paper requirements (i.e. pamphlets, books, manuals, signs)
  • Operates a personal computer and uses Adobe suite software to review submitted documents in the pre-print stage, ensuring documents are in appropriate PDF file format
  • Edits PDF file documents to make required lay out adjustments including artwork, fonts, color, pagination, inserting headers and footers, other standard formatting changes
  • Scans hard copies and converts to PDF files to make documents print ready
  • Uses print production software to enter codes and set up print jobs to meet specifications (i.e. number of copies, paper size and weight, bindery requirements)
  • Runs jobs and checks printed materials to ensure original copy integrity and image quality
  • Sets and adjusts controls and operates large scale bindery devices (i.e. cutters, collators, saddle-stitch booklet-maker, folding machine, drill press) to finish documents
  • Works in a digital dark room photo laboratory, using photo equipment to print photographs taken by city photographers to fill photo order requests
  • Operates a personal computer and uses graphics/image editing software (i.e. Adobe Photoshop) to edit, format and organize selected photographic proofs for printing
  • Uses the digital enhancement options for image quality to ensure color, shade and lighting of photos are adequate before printing
  • Selects appropriate paper, finish and size for photos and prints photos in appropriate quantities
  • Maintains a high resolution digital filing system
  • Performs maintenance functions and standard repairs to ensure optimum performance of photocopiers, photographic printing equipment and bindery devices
  • Schedules needed vendor repair services
  • Directs lower level Reprographics Technicians loading paper trays, changing toner, and monitoring jobs during production for image quality
  • Provides direction and guidance to lower level Reprographics Technicians on setting up production and photographic printing jobs and in operating photocopier, digital photographic printing equipment and bindery devices
  • Prepares productivity work reports

Hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m.

Days Monday-Friday

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Salary: $48,960.00/year

Qualifications

Two years of work experience in operating high volume, high speed photocopier equipment and bindery devices in a reprographics/production center environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Selection Requirement:

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.

Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:

  • Previous printing, photocopying and bindery experience
  • Previous experience working with bindery equipment
  • Previous experience using Adobe Acrobat, Pitstop, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
