Mercantile Bank, a United Community Bank, is in search of a Maintenance Technician. Candidates will be responsible for the overall monitoring, completion, and follow up of the maintenance requests for the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the functional integrity of locations electrical, mechanical and other equipment by performing preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Assist with maintaining and repairing bank equipment. This includes portable and stationary equipment as well as the physical structure and furnishings of bank locations
  • Perform minor construction work to include plumbing repair, carpentry, drywall, and painting
  • Complete follow up documentation at completion of maintenance requests and keeps supervisor and bank management informed of progress and status or maintenance requests
  • Clean up work area after work is performed, whether it is finished or unfinished, disposes of all waste materials and secures any and all dangerous equipment and supplies
  • Replace light bulbs, reset breakers; coordinate with service company
  • Keep windows clean
  • Assist door lock systems, rekeying
  • Provide janitorial service when needed
  • Repair broken furniture, move furniture, clean furniture as needed
  • Assist with garbage and recycle process for assigned locations
  • Fill and maintain first aid kits
  • On-call for triggered alarms and point of contact for emergency personnel
  • Weekly maintenance on ATM's and point of contact for repairs and updates
  • Assist with bank door signage
  • Assist with general landscaping tasks and snow and ice removal
  • Maintain sidewalks and parking lots
  • Maintain flags, lights and poles
  • Assist with maintaining bank vehicles
  • Assist with maintaining foreclosed properties
  • Assist with providing courier service between branches when needed
  • Safe operation of all equipment
  • Review invoices related to building, equipment and outsourced maintenance
  • Order supplies, reconcile/seek approvals/submit for payment associated invoices and manage "Request" program
  • Assist with sorting, distributing, putting up and taking down bank holiday decorations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Computer Requirements

  • Some experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Previous customer service skills preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • General knowledge of all types of maintenance tasks or an understanding of who to contact to assist
  • Ability to practice discretion and handle confidential information in a professional manner
  • Ability to perform duties independently with limited direct supervision

  • Written and verbal (face-to-face and phone) communication skills including professional grammar and demeanor

Attendance Requirements

Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start work. Employees are expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule. Late arrival, early departure or other absences from scheduled hours should be avoided.

Working Conditions:

This role routinely uses various tools and equipment to fulfill maintenance requests. Work is mainly performed at bank locations and will fulfill maintenance requests both inside and outside.

Physical requirements:

  • Requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary
  • Work can be in small spaces, at heights, from ladders and requires pushing and pulling
  • Requires the ability to hear, speak and/or signal people
  • Effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and in English
  • Requires manual dexterity, and the ability to lift objects and operate/use various tools in awkward, strained or squatting positions for long periods
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Travel to remote branch and other bank locations may be required.
