Job Summary

This position is accountable for the administration of a comprehensive safety and health program through the effective use of personnel, equipment, and other resources, in a safe, reliable, efficient, and cost effective manner to support the business unit performance measures.

Job Description

Key Roles & Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent will:

  • Coordinate and develop safety programs and activities at the plant that assist management in ensuring safety/health and regulatory compliance for all employees.
  • Enforce compliance of safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment and increase the safety awareness of all employees.
  • Effectively interface with Luminant supervisors/managers and other Luminant employees to ensure consistent work practices and sharing of knowledge to optimize performance of safety activities.
  • Participate in special projects and committee assignments as needed.
  • Administer the training and testing requirements to comply with company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Manage all accidents and injuries by interfacing with all individuals, medical professionals, companies, and agencies involved ensuring proper treatment of injured employees and minimizing loss of production.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

  • Management/supervisory experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Office Suite programs and others as applicable.)
  • Proven leadership and people skills.
  • General knowledge of specific operations (plant/mine)
  • Sound understanding of MSHA/OSHA regulations.
  • 3+ years' experience in plant or mine safety.
  • Professional certifications in a related health or safety discipline or equivalent training and experience
  • High School diploma or GED required
