Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI) is seeking a Automotive Engineer 3 to design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components and sub-systems, product, equipment, and machinery. You will utilize your expertise to support Methode's growth in the areas of high voltage component design, e.g., busbars, wire harnesses, etc. This will include working with the Sales and Engineering teams along with our customers to determine the solution to their needs.

Responsibilities:
Assist in developing product design proposals to meet customer specifications
Design and build Proof of Concepts
Prepare and conduct technical presentations with internal and external customers
Work directly with new suppliers to integrate their technology and see how it best fits with Methode products
Develop designs and engineering details from general concepts and create BOM
May lead the development and review of product designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications
May lead activities concerning product development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems
Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products for relevant industry
Design and implement mechanical products using various CAD and CAE tools
Guide less experienced engineers and provide support to more experienced engineers
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor Science in engineering from a four year college or university
7+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
Self learning, task oriented, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge and proficiency with components in electrical transfer
Proficient in at least one CAD software programs, Catia or UG preferred
Ability to travel up to 15% domestic and international
Proven ability to overcome obstacles and get results
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated design capability to specify, design and develop busbars or similar high voltage components
Functional knowledge in reference material properties and their applications to component design, test, and validation
Support local Sales team on acquisition of new projects
Strong presentation skills with ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and speak to diverse audiences
Ability to read and manipulate existing CAD data online
Functional knowledge of FEA analysis with ability to read/understand Moldflow results, Thermal and Mechanical (stress/strain) simulations as well as provide input to model set up and assumptions
Detailed understanding of GD&T methods with demonstrated capability to apply to detailed designs
Must demonstrate continuous development and willingness to learn
