Job Description

This position, reporting to the Aftermarket Repair Station Manager, will be required to disassemble, assemble and validate parts using precision measuring equipment to assure correct dimensions are maintained and to check for leakage, spring tension and other function characteristics. This position will also be responsible for machining and lapping parts to meet complex engineering drawing and troubleshooting issues to meet deadlines in a timely manner.

Key Accountabilities

  • Set up and operate laser marking equipment to mark parts per print and customer specifications
  • Set up and operate orbital former, and roll closer to close various types of mechanical shaft seals
  • Inspect lapped surfaces for scratches, nicks and other defects
  • Disassemble and assemble parts per work instructions
  • Package finished parts, as required per work instructions
  • Maintain accurate set up operation records
  • Inspect seal features for defects
  • Work from complex engineering drawings or work instructions for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances to setup and operate OD grinder, surface grinder, hydropad equipment, carbon hone, metal and carbon lapping machines, counterbore lapping machine, manual lathe and manual end mill.
  • Operate computer to generate labels and stencils and to access ERP information such as quantity, bills of material, ship dates, stock, etc.
  • Operate various types of cleaning equipment, such as degreasers and sonic cleaner.
  • Participate in efforts to continually improve processes and material flow within the repair station.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve various types of operating difficulties for the repair station, production and prototype operations.

Job Requirements

Capabilities and Success Factors

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years of technical experience. Technical experience is defined as, but not limited to, experience in machining, auto shop, or parts assembling.
  • Ability to learn how to setup and run manual lathe and end mill without supervision
  • Ability to learn to setup and run OD (outer diameter), arbor and surface grinders
  • Ability to learn to setup shrinks fit/hone
  • Ability to create shop orders
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to read and understand complex drawings and work instructions
  • Ability to understand and comply with FARs (Federal Airworthiness Regulations)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic inspection of components
  • Moderate physical demand required to insert tooling, set up work centers, inspect workpieces and make machine adjustments, which is equivalent to continuously lifting or moving light weight material.
  • Computer literate
  • Continuous mental and visual attention required
  • Responsible for own work.
