POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Alutiiq Career Ventures, (ACV) is looking foran experienced and self-motivated Librarian I to join our team. As a librarian, you will perform a range of duties such as cataloging library resources, and maintaining library records.

The Librarian I will support the NASA Communications Services contract. For this position, you will have to demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills, as a great part of your job will involve interacting with the customers. The ideal candidate should also possess in-depth knowledge of library database systems, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Works under immediate supervision and reports to a supervisor or manager.
• Responsible for assisting librarians by helping readers in the use of library catalogs, databases, and indexes to locate books and other materials
• Responsible for answering questions that require only brief consultation of standard reference
• Responsible for compiling records, sorting and shelving books or other media, removal or repair of damaged books or other media
• Responsible for registering patrons and checking materials in and out of the circulation process
• Responsible for replacing materials in shelving area (stacks) or files, including bookmobile drivers who assist with providing services in mobile libraries.
• Responsible for generating routine and/or ad-hoc reports for OCOMM management/OCOMM customers
• Duties may include directly interfacing with OCOMM management and/or OCOMM customers.

Pay rate:$29.72 Hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Master's degree in library science, information science or other appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university.
• Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Proficient in:
  • advanced oral and written communications;
  • advanced writing and editing; and
  • advanced problem solving
