Document Scanning Specialist

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Document Scanning Specialist
  • Location: Warrenville, IL
  • Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, standard business hours

What you will do:

  • Organizes and prepares health information documents that are received daily from physicians, nursing units, and/or other hospital departments through out Edward Hospital, Linden Oaks and other corporate locations.
  • Scans health information documents into electronic medical record on a daily basis.
  • Monitors images on screen to ensure quality of images captured during scanning process.
  • Uses judgment to determine appropriate visit assignment. Evaluates and determines proper location of each document.
  • Enters patient identification data accurately during indexing process.
  • Ensures uniform document placement within the scanned medical record. Performs quality review on the health information documents scanned into the scanning software system prior to the release of the information into the hospital computer system.
  • Prior to final destruction of the paper medical record. Performs spot checks on electronic medical records that are maintained in the active hospital computer system.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient medical record information at all times.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

What you will need:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED
  • Experience: Previous scanning experience
  • A valid driver's license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off-site location. If the incumbent uses their personal vehicle, the incumbent must maintain automobile liability coverage as required by law and evidence of such coverage may be requested.
