Covia is looking for a dynamic Electrical/Instrumentation Technician who will have a positive impact on the Covia Engineering team, based at our Wedron, IL location.

The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Troubleshoot electrical issues as they arise. These issues can range from low voltage sensors, and motor controls.
  • Maintain and update device level networks including DeviceNet and Ethernet.
  • Install, Configure, and troubleshoot analog sensors (4-20mA).
  • Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot AC variable frequency drives and starters for 480V motors.
  • Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot Ethernet devices.
  • Assist team with installation and testing of control system interconnections for new construction.
  • Ensure EHS compliance and adherence to internal standards for safe and sustainable operations.
  • Create and run maintenance schedule for control equipment.
  • Generate reports of maintenance routines to control teams.
  • Execute the calibration of the control equipment.
  • Keep the measuring instruments in optimal conditions.
  • Make reports of the calibration of the equipment.
  • Carry out the plan and configuration of the control equipment.
  • Comply with the configuration of plant control equipment (Allen Bradley, Schneider, ABB, etc.).
  • Ensure predictive and preventive maintenance of control systems.
  • Coordinate together with the Engineering area the implementation of new technologies for control and automation of plant processes.
  • Hands on supervision and scheduling of electrical employees to meet the demands of the plant.
  • Collaborate with cross functional and interdependent departments as required.

The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing electrical maintenance preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • PLC Configuration Software experience, prefer RSLogix 5000 and Concept.
  • Knowledge of proper electrical codes and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well with others required including process operations, technical. specialists, site operators, contractors, supply chain and other functions.
