Description

The occupant of this position manages, supervises and coordinates the Department of Surgery's call center for Decatur providers.

Examples of Duties

Supervisory 70%
A. Supervises and manages the activities of staff assigned to them.
B. Develops and conducts training and orientation for new personnel.
C. Monitors and critiques quality of work and staff performance and gives feedback for established metrics.
D. Provides continuation training for existing staff.
E. Performs employee evaluations, approves sick/vacation time and participates in the disciplinary process as required.
F. Participates in the interviewing and hiring process to fill new and/or replacement positions.
G. Ensures implementation of departmental rules, policies and procedures, and recommends revisions.
H. Directs and participates in staff meetings and/or conferences as requested.
I. Provides justification and estimates for use of budgeted funds.

Scheduler Administrative 30%
A. Develops and maintains clinic reference material for all staff including provider protocols and diagnosis lists.
B. Ensures clinic office equipment is functioning properly and has repairs completed as needed.
C. May perform duties at lower levels of classification as required as a working manager.
D. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Any one or any combination totaling five (5) years (60 months), from the categories below
    1. College education with course work in a business medical field such as nursing assistant, medical assistant, or medical secretary and/or business fields such as business, finance, public administration, or social science, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
    2. Work experience or ancillary service experience comparable to the Medical Office Specialist level or other positions of comparable responsibility.
