Overview

ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Illinois Cancer Specialists provides cancer treatment and support for patients in the Chicago area communities. Six convenient locations - Arlington Heights, Chicago, Crystal Lake, Elgin, Hoffman Estates, and Niles. We are seeking an Assistant Controller with private oncology practice or hospital systems experience.

SCOPE:

Prepares, processes, and maintains activity as assigned for preparation of monthly financial statements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements financial policies and procedures as determined by up-line management for areas including, but not limited to, general ledger, financial statements, workpapers and supporting documentation, and accounts receivable.
  • Prepares and supports journal entries for all non-system entries.
  • Participates in the completion of the Month End Close Checklist for all assigned action items to ensure that the state meets all corporate timelines.
  • Maintains appropriate internal control safeguards over accounting functions.
  • Provides support to department managers, administration, and physicians in the preparation, understanding and use of financial information.
  • Prepares the monthly reporting package and draft of the Management Discussion & Analysis document.
  • Analyzes all financial results and summarizes findings with recommendations when appropriate.
  • Supervises clerical staff as assigned.
  • Reviews payroll data and other analysis prepared by staff.
  • Performs EOB analysis as requested.
  • Reconciles all bank and inter-company accounts.
  • This is a hybrid position with includes working at home and in the office.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Medical Oncology experience required.
  • Minimum of 2 years Healthcare experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in fiscal management.
  • 3 Years public accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
