Position Summary

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Desire to work within a comprehensive health care team.
- Commitment to a healthy lifestyle as a model for participants and staff.
- Serves as a resource to members of the clinical team in understanding the needs of the patient population.
- Responsible for Initial assessment of the participant and assists in the development of the plan of care.
- Supervise exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise. Responsible for blood pressure checks on all participants’ pre and post exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to the participant, other staff and the Medical Director.
- Reports and significant participant conditions to the physician supervising the program immediately. Initiates ACLS measures and/or emergency care according to Hospital Policy.
- Leads participant education sessions in all areas of nursing expertise.
- Perform scanning of Holter Monitor recordings.
- Perform necessary paperwork for participant record keeping and billing.
- Maintain required training and/or education per hospital guidelines.
- Follow and maintain all lawful safety, health requirements and regulations, and follow protocols for required protective equipment for peers, patients and community.
- Promptly report safety issues such hazardous conditions, job-related injury or illness, and seek guidance or treatment.
- Adheres to all professional standards, policies and procedures, federal/state/local requirements and regulatory organizations.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and records.
- Portrays a professional and positive attitude for peers, patients and community.
- Maintain required training and/or education per hospital guidelines.
- Follow and maintain all lawful safety, health requirements and regulations, and follow protocols for required protective equipment for peers, patients and community.
- Promptly report safety issues such hazardous conditions, job-related injury or illness, and seek guidance or treatment.
- Adheres to all professional standards, policies and procedures, federal/state/local requirements and regulatory organizations.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and records.
- Portrays a professional and positive attitude for peers, patients and community.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- A strong command of knowledge required to manage Cardiac and Pulmonary patients.
- Ability to navigate and effectively utilize the software and technology used in the department.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently
- Ability to use proper body mechanics when lifting, pushing and pulling
- Ability to work with equipment
- Keeps current in the field of Cardiac Rehabilitation through journals, in-services, and conferences.
- Understands and applies emergency plan and procedures
- Maintains a neat and safe work area; removes and/or reports any equipment malfunctions.
- Checks emergency supplies and equipment for proper function and adequate supply on a regular basis.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
- Associate or Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
Experience:
- One year of recent and relevant experience in a Coronary Care, Intensive Care setting or Cardiac Rehabilitation
- Current Illinois RN license
- Current CPR and ACLS certifications required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Demonstrates the ability to work accurately and effectively in oral and written directions and communication.
- Enjoys working with people and works cooperatively with other hospital staff.
- Medium Lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
