Responsibilities

Related Midwest is looking for a highly-qualified Real Estate Transactional Attorney who will be responsible for commercial real estate transactional work across development projects in Chicago. This position will be based onsite in our Chicago office and will advise on and manage a variety of complex and high-value matters, collaborating with various parties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide accurate and timely counsel on a variety of transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, commercial leasing, financing and other joint ventures
  • Effectively draft, advise on and negotiate complex leases, including office, retail, industrial, and ground leases
  • Negotiate, analyze, structure and close secured commercial loan transactions, including bridge and mezzanine financing, and loan asset management and restructuring
  • Advise on acquisitions, dispositions, and sale-leasebacks of single assets and portfolios, including office, retail, hotel, residential and mixed-use properties
  • Conduct thorough title and survey reviews for real estate transactions, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and identifying any potential issues or discrepancies
  • Advise on other legal matters, as needed
  • Manage outside counsel within budgetary guidelines

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois
  • 3+ years' experience at a reputable law firm is required
  • Demonstrated ability to voice opinions appropriately and take unpopular positions when necessary
  • Proven ability to effectively collaborate and build partnerships with legal and business peers
  • Ability to flex quickly and easily to changing business needs and priorities
  • Experience with tax and/or litigation is a bonus
