Overview

Join Affiliated Oncologists as an APP!

AO specializes in treating a variety of cancers including lymphoma, lung, breast, prostate, gynecologic, colorectal and head and neck cancers. Our physicians and staff are a multi-disciplinary team of highly experienced caregivers focused on helping patients and their families receive the best care and support possible.

Scope: Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis. This care may be in clinic or virtually, via telemedicine. Responsibilities may include duties related to prevention, screening, patient care, management, and research. May serve as direct caregiver, health care consultant, patient educator, administrator, or researcher. Ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards and requirements. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.

- Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated.

- Performs procedures with minimal supervision.

- Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.

- Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.

- Often incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.

- Solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.

- Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.

- Likely to provide case management for patients and their families.

- Serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.

- Provides palliative care for the patient and their families as needed.

- Promotes/provides staff education.

- Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals, weekend or after-hour calls.

- Mentors new advanced practice providers.

- Precepts APP students.

- Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Nurse Practitioner- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program. This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years post MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

OR

Physician Assistant - Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification. This position is entry-level and typically requires 3-5 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in the chosen specialty. Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

OR

Clinical Nurse Specialist - Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program. This position is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 3-5 years of post-MSN experience, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
