Your responsibilities

Summary

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for the development, supervision, coordination, and maintenance of the thyssenkrupp Dynamic Components-Danville quality control program. Through established standards and customer specific requirements, this role is responsible for meeting company objectives, facilitating continuous improvement, and achieving total customer satisfaction. The priority areas of focus include measurement and materials labs, internal process quality and mechanical testing lab. This position requires a strong commitment to safety.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Quality Control Supervisor provides leadership, mentoring and supervision of the team that impact measurement, materials, and mechanical labs, gauging, and shop floor quality.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in a technical field required with 5 years of experience in Quality and/or Engineering field. Experience in automotive preferred.
  • Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, OEMs, or employees of organization.
  • Technology: IATF 16949, MSA, GD&T, surface finishing and mechanical manufacturing processes. Experience with Marposs, Kistler, Heidenhain, Nokra, SE etc., Laser and mechanical displacement measurement, Load cell and strain gauge measurement, Position and location sensing, and Eddy current systems preferred.
  • Travel: Occasional travel, up to 10% including international.

Key Deliverables:

The Quality Control Supervisor serves as an engaged and trusted source in the organization. Success in this role is measured by detection and handling of failures through the optimization of quality control routines and management of measurement and testing equipment.

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Has authority to stop processes to correct quality, safety, or environmental problems, identify and place suspect products on quality hold, and to promptly notify Supervisory personnel when processes become noncompliant.
  • Promote and teach quality control methods to production personnel.
  • Assure effective quality control on the shop floor.
  • Oversees and monitors the inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
  • Establishes inspection protocols, implements sampling procedures, and determines equipment and mechanisms to be used in the testing process.
  • Recommends changes and corrections to the process or product based on inspection results.
  • Monitors gauge management activities including calibrations and adjustment of measurement devices.
  • Oversees MSA activities and propose measurement optimizations as applicable.
  • Support the investigation of complaints with measurement and testing data.
  • Monitors quality assurance objectives complementary to company policies and goals.
  • Coordinates appraisal activities for returned parts from the customer and for supplier issues.
  • Works with production teams to implement any new testing criteria, method, and inspection and a supporting member of the SQDC Team.
  • Identify weakness in production processes and identify solutions/training needs.
  • Provides support for process-related corrective action implementation, quality-related production documentation, studies, and activities necessary to increase control and lower cost of poor quality, implementing and validating Poke Yoke/Error Proofing methods, and internal complaint activities.
  • Supports scrap reduction activities in serial production.
  • Oversees the Cradle-to-Grave responsibility of the Process Quality Group who are the specialists for that area and ensure an in-depth understanding of the full process.
  • Provides direction for disposition of suspect product.
  • Provides support for Production Part Approval Process activities as needed.
  • Provides technical and process direction to Manufacturing, Production, and Quality Departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Supervisory personnel have been delegated the responsibility and authority to add additional inspection steps necessary to ensure product quality when processes become noncompliant.
