Material Handler in Princeton, IL

First Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Monday - Friday


Pay Starting at $18+/hr. Depending on experience!

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY

Material Handler works from dispatch lists, schedules, and inventory control cards to maintain a steady flow of material. He/she performs shop floor and inventory control transactions. He/she is responsible for inventory control. Also, may include aftermarket activities to pick parts for aftermarket sales and packaging.

MH's are responsible for the supply and removal of skids to proper staging areas and the removal of scrap and empty containers. The MH stocks material, verifies count and part number on move ticket against pink copy of move ticket on material, re-skids material as required, checks/fills shortages and stocks material in location provided or in new location. MH's pull material for miscellaneous requirements and deliver to requestor. MH's pull segregated material as needed and performs inventory functions as conditions may require. In addition, MH's will assist in material positioning for organized work flow, and general cleanliness of open areas not manned by specific operators.

MH's are responsible for maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly work area. They are to work in a safe manner, and accurately maintain production records.

MH's are also responsible for effective written and verbal communications as well as maintaining a constructive demeanor with all co-workers.

All employees are expected to work in a safe manner following all of their work procedures, using the appropriate PPE for their position, using a face shield with glasses when using compressed air or grinding material, ensuring all hammers/punches are in safe condition and not mushroomed before using, labeling all chemicals using in the area following the proper process, and proactively look for ways to improve safety.

QUALIFICATION INFORMATION

High School diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) is required.

Performance reviews are completed 2 times a year.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Lifting: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally with hoist to be used on objects over 40 pounds.

Standing: Standing is required in periods of up to three hours at a time.

Stooping: Would be required to lift objects off pallets.

Hand Dexterity: Must be able to work with hand tools, screws and gauges, as well as operating buttons on controls.

Verbal Communication: Must be capable of clear communication between co-workers and supervisor.

Vision: Near acuity is necessary for gauge control reading and prints. Depth perception ability is needed to place parts in relation to process.

Carrying: Capable of carrying 40 pounds for a distance of up to 25 feet.
