Job Description

Heritage has full-time recovery support positions within various programs to provide recovery and resiliency-oriented services to individuals with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders of all ages. The peer services focus on rehabilitation interventions and support necessary to assist the client in achieving and maintaining rehabilitative, resiliency, and recovery goals. Positions include both community-based and onsite positions and community-based positions. Services will be provided in various settings, including individual homes, community settings, community agencies, healthcare providers, and Heritage.

Recovery Support Services and requires applicants to have lived experience.

Positions available include;

  • Community Support Team- Recovery Support Specialist
  • ACT- Recovery Support Specialist
    1. On-Call Availability Required
  • Living Room- Recovery Support Specialist
    1. Program operates 24/7/365

Responsibilities Include:

  • Empower individuals to set recovery goals and take ownership of their recovery through a community that promotes personal growth, person empowerment, responsibility, and great independence
  • Advocate and collaborate with participants treatment team
  • Provide a supportive and helping response to individuals presenting at Heritage needing support, assistance, or referral and linkage
  • Screening for suicide and homicide risk
  • Assist in assisting individuals in identifying, applying, and accessing community resources
  • Referral and linkage to a wide array of community and agency resources, including mental health, substance use, healthcare, budgeting, housing, education, employment, and social support
  • Assist individuals in creating a wellness toolbox, developing a daily plan, identifying stressors and early warning signs, creating an action plan when stressors increase, and developing a crisis plan
  • Participate in a team-based approach to providing treatment in collaboration with clinical teams, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other partners invested in an individual's recovery
  • Short-term case management or counseling
  • Provide other duties as assigned, required, or negotiated explicitly with supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with individuals with a diagnosis of mental health and/or substance use in a kind, caring, and supportive approach that instills hope
  • Ability to rapport quickly with individuals seeking help
  • Ability to be flexible to help anyone, anywhere, and anytime

Education and Experience:

Key characteristics of this position will include the ability to meet people where they are in their recovery, being non-judgmental, and building rapport quickly. Individual applicants must have lived experience and a high school diploma or GED equivalent; a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) is preferred. Must be able to obtain CRSS within two years of hire date.

A valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance are required.
