POSITION SUMMARY
Promotes educational programs for hospital clinical personnel.  Documents education that is provided and the employees who attend.  Collaborates with department manager in providing initial orientation for clinical personnel.  Collaborates with manager in coordination and implementation of educational and clinical needs of hospital departments.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Surveys all hospital personnel periodically (not less than every two years) to assess educational needs.
  • Support educational offerings to include but not limited to in-house offerings of ACLS, PALS, CPR, and NRP.
  • Coordinates clinical competencies, as applicable.
  • Maintain employee education files and computer data base, if applicable.
  • Documents all educational functions and names of those who attend educational offerings.   Organizes and maintains video library listing and resource books, if applicable.
  • Resource for nursing departments.
  • Membership or participant, as designated, may include: Nursing Clinical Practice Committee, Safety Committee, and Nursing Advisory Council at Kishwaukee Community College
  • Assist with community based CPR and First Aid classes, as needed.
  • Coordinate and assist, as needed with community health fairs, job fairs, and recruiting opportunities, if applicable.
  • Maintain required training and/or education per hospital guidelines.
  • Follow and maintain all lawful safety, health requirements and regulations, and follow protocols for required protective equipment for peers, patients and community.
  • Promptly report safety issues such hazardous conditions, job-related injury or illness, and seek guidance or treatment.
  • Adheres to all professional standards, policies and procedures, federal/state/local requirements and regulatory organizations.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and records.
  • Portrays a professional and positive attitude for peers, patients and community.
  • Other duties as assigned

Licensure/Certifications

  • Registered Nurse with current Illinois license.
  • Has attended 20 continuing education hours over a two-year period.
  • BLS Provider mandatory on hire. ACLS / PALS certification within 6 months of hire, preferred.

Education      

  • BSN or MSN/MS, preferred

Position Requirements
  • Previous experience with educating healthcare personnel.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office software.
  • 3-5 years of current clinical nursing experience.
  • Must be self-directed and independent in decision making process
  • Evidence of self-directed, goal oriented behavior.
  • Requires exceptional verbal and written presentation skills
  • Complete employee health requirements.
  • Maintains personal BLS Provider certification. BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP Instructor status preferred, if applicable.
  • Maintains current Nursing licensure.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • May require periods of sitting and intermittent walking throughout the hospital.
  • Frequent lifting and/or handling of light weight items.
  • Occasional lifting and/or handling of items in excess of 35 lbs.
  • Frequently requires close visual effort and concentration.
  • May require direct patient contact.
  • Ability to handle a multitude of tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Constant kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting and occasional need to lift patients
  • Medium Lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
