Maintenance Technician I (Electrician

General Statement of Responsibilities: Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical components of industrial machinery and equipment by performing the following duties:

  1. Installs and maintains electrical systems that operate on alternating or direct current circuits, generators, transformers, and appliances through panels, switches, meters, and circuit breakers.
  2. Repairs motors and other electrical/electronic controls.
  3. Repairs and maintains electrical switchboards, panels, and other apparatus utilizing electricity.
  4. Tests malfunctioning machinery to diagnose malfunctioning equipment.
  5. Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices.
  6. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
  7. Replaces electric motor bearings and reconnects motors.
  8. Pushes buttons and presses keys on teach pendant, and programmable controller to program automated machinery to test for malfunctions and to verify repairs.
  9. Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  10. Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic electrical components of machines and equipment.
  11. Support the Plant quality systems goals/improvements & productivity goals/improvements within the scope of the job.
  12. Support the Plant safety programs/goals within the scope of the job.
  13. Regular and predictable attendance.
  14. Compliance with applicable Company, Corporate, State, & Federal regulations.
  15. 5S (Sort, Shine, Set in Order, Standardize, and Sustain) is required of every job.

Education: Associate's degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience. Completion of any formalized training courses as identified by Department Supervisor/Facilities Engineering Manager.

Language & Math Requirements:

Language- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with vendors or employees of organization. Math- Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. Reasoning- Ability to solve practical problems and to deal with variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Physical- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Work Environment- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is variable and can be very loud.
