Overview

Endoscopy Technician, Gastroenterology, Javon Bea Hospital - Riverside, Days with Evening, Weekend and Holiday On-Call Rotation, 72 hours / 2 weeks

Functions as a member of the Endoscopy team in providing quality care for the patient by assisting the physicians and nurses with procedures, providing appropriate instrumentation and supplies and ensuring appropriate decontamination and reprocessing of equipment. The Endoscopy technician assists with under the supervision of an RN and/or physician. Additionally, the Endoscopy Tech is responsible for the care, handling and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure room(s).

Responsibilities

  • Serves as resource person for Endoscopy equipment used.
  • Evaluates new equipment, orders and restocks supplies.
  • Does periodic check of schedule for specific supplies, requests by physicians/Lead RN.
  • Works with Materials to stay within contact to control costs.
  • Assists physician procedures.
  • Communicates with appropriate departments concerning equipment problems.
  • Participates in Quality Management program, standards, policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

  • High School Education or equivalent

Certification/Licensure

  • Current CNA certification in applicable state preferred
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision.
