Primary Responsibilities

As a Structural Engineer, we will count on you to:

  • Actively participate in development of project deliverables. Plan, organize, and supervise the work of other professionals as required to support projects and proposals.
  • Support a wide variety of projects that require Owner's Engineering, consulting, and detailed design.
  • Design and plan production for structural engineering activities on a wide variety of projects, including foundation design for major equipment, design of support steel for equipment/piping/conduits/access platforms, and other related engineering activities.
  • Participate in development of procurement and construction specifications, design reviews and technical assessment of construction progress.
  • Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Serve as a structural technical expert in support of consulting and design projects
  • Prepare calculations as required to support engineering deliverables and cost estimates.
  • Serve as a project manager for select projects, although project management is not the primary focus of this position.
  • Be directly involved with local clients in marketing, proposal development, and maintaining client relationships for select projects and clients, although business development is not the primary focus of this position.
  • Support proposal development via preparation of structural engineering scope of work and budgets/estimates.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations and industry standards.
  • Work cooperatively with others to marketing and production efforts, including Client and Business Development through technical assistance on proposals and pursuits.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering
  • PE required
  • 5 years Structural engineering experience as it relates to design of power generation facilities (preferably renewable), industrial facilities, and equipment installation
  • Experience in design calculations and preparing construction drawings for utility, industrial and institutional power and energy plant projects. Requires understanding of dynamic analysis and lateral analysis.
  • Strong communication, listening and mentoring skills
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • Computer knowledge Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, STAAD, LPile, RISA or similar analytical software
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
