Function:

Finance & AccountingJob Summary:

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for managing several master data files and the entire change management process relating to master data and ensuring that the controls around master data are followed. This individual will oversee the processes of data entry, including the facilitation of data validation and maintenance. The Accounting Clerk will coordinate with team members to make sure master data related project timelines are met.

Job Description:

  • Provide ownership of entire vendor master data management process with support for customer data management process.
  • Manage the master data elements for all North American Operations (Plants, Procurement, and Corporate.) Provide necessary information and communication for vendor data changes throughout the organization.
  • Manage the master data elements for all UK Operations (Plants, Procurement, and Corporate.) Provide necessary information and communication for vendor and customer data changes throughout the organization.
  • Monitor all master data reports, change notices and exception messages to ensure information is correctly loaded and in compliance with system requirements.
  • Assist with change management activities with procurement, finance, and operations.
  • Provide support to the business by training users on how to look up vendor information in SAP.
  • Participate in vendor/customer rationalization activities and provide vendor/customer master data to facilitate those activities.
  • Serve as an advocate for continuous system improvement to increase efficiencies.
  • Provide recommendations and assist with periodic implementations of changes to formal policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Internal Controls

Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.

Successful incumbents will have:

  • High School diploma
  • 3-5 years' experience as an accounting clerk
  • Proficient in Excel and Word, 10-key by touch, SAP and Avantis experience a plus
  • Strong work ethic, detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable, possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Position Scope/Contribution:

This position contributes to the overall effectiveness of the department. Timing and accuracy are important in the processing of journal entries and reports prepared and issued to management. Individual works under minimum supervision and has some latitude for decisions within the scope of delegated authority. Applies knowledge of advanced accounting methods and procedures.
