Since its inception, over 30 years ago, CDT has dedicated it efforts toward one goal: to provide safe, reliable, cost effective, on-time transportation to the disabled community of the metropolitan Chicago Area.

• In 1975, CDT was formed when it developed a transportation program for the Illinois Department of Public Aid. This program provided, for the first time dedicated vehicles and a flat billing rate of service.
• In 1976, the Mayor’s Office for Senior Citizens and Handicapped (MOSCH) introduced a bid for transportation for disabled individuals in the City of Chicago. CDT’s competitive bid price and on-going commitment was instrumental in getting this program a solid start.

In 1985, CDT became one of four private carriers contracted to provide service to the disabled community for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). Under the CTA Special Services program, customers had a free choice of the carrier they rode with. For over 21 years, more customers chose to ride with CDT than all the carriers combined. This was verified by the fact that CDT was always selected the “best overall carrier” by the disabled riders, both in annual surveys sent out by the CTA and in public hearings held by the CTA and Pace.  

Since the most recent contract with Pace in 2008 CDT has continued to grow and provide excellent service to customers, reaching new highs in numbers of customers transported per weekday in February 2013.
Why has CDT acquired such an impressive record? There are many reasons:

• CDT is totally committed to disabled transportation. This is not a small side business that CDT is trying to expand into.
• CDT puts the customer first, as the customer is the real reason CDT is in business.
• CDT  has a dedicated training staff primarily dedicated to the training of its employees to provide a safe, courteous, and reliable on-time transportation experience to our customers
• CDT has always pioneered the use of cutting edge technology to find ways to improve customer service and to reduce costs.
