Come Make A Difference! Allendale Association is a private, not-for-profit social service agency serving children and adolescents with moderate to profound emotional and behavioral disabilities. These youth and their families receive care and treatment through Allendale’s residential treatment programs, day treatment special education schools or from our community based clinical programs and services. Allendale’s community based programs include an outpatient counseling center, foster care licensing, training and support, and mentoring services. The institution has proudly served troubled adolescents since its founding in 1897 by Edward “Cap” Bradley, a young Princeton graduate interested in the plight of urban youth and the poor conditions under which they lived.

Allendale serves over 1,300 children, youth, and families annually. These children, often victims of abuse, neglect or severe mental illness, come to Allendale with the devastating experiences of failure in the classroom, misunderstanding in the home and isolation in the community. Helping these children to heal and prepare for a brighter future requires highly sophisticated therapeutic programs and services. Allendale’s residential, clinical, educational, vocational and recreational programs are provided within safe, aesthetically designed facilities. Additionally, Allendale has a residential treatment program in Benet Lake, Wisconsin as well as group homes in Waukegan and Highland Park, Illinois, an outpatient community based child/family counseling center in Gurnee, Illinois and an extended day treatment special education satellite programs for children and youth from surrounding communities in Woodstock, Illinois.
