As we grow, we are seeking an experienced Survey Office Technician.

The Survey Office Technician will work collectively with the Phase Manager and cross-functional internal departments.  This individual will create, collect, analyze and validate enterprise asset data and associated land data within the Office, enterprise geographic information system (GIS), or other asset information storage databases. Our Survey Office Technician is responsible for preparing route surveys to state and federal standards, utility inventory surveys, and roadway right of way plans.  This role provides reduction of field data, land record research, preparation of boundary surveys, and topographic maps to meet internal and external customer requirements. Our Survey Office Technician will have a proven ability to work with and directly interact with cross-functional internal contacts to execute the required work, interact with the client staff in a professional and proactive manner to resolve issues, track progress, perform QA work associated with the requirements, make necessary corrections, and continually manage schedule and ensure quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and document data management workflows, specifications, and processes
  • Demonstrated experience in Civil 3D.
  • Prior experience in point cloud extraction utilizing TopoDOT.
  • Experience using MicroStation with GeoPak and/or OpenRoads
  • Prepares highway right-of-way maps
  • Research and interpret government files, utilities, and public record documentation.
  • Produce accurate and legible maps, survey reports and legal descriptions, or displays for various departments
  • Verify map feature and attribute accuracies
  • Identify and recommend process improvements and enhancements on existing projects

Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Geography, CAD or related field preferred
  • MicroStation experience
  • Autocad experience a plus
  • GIS related experience a plus
  • Trimble Business Center a plus
  • Convert data between standard spatial data formats including but not limited to AutoCAD, Esri geodatabase feature classes, Esri shapefiles a plus.
  • Licensed Surveyor in Training (L.S.I.T) Certificate is a plus
  • Knowledge of reading highway plans, plats and deeds
  • Able to graphically present information clearly and concisely
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Working with Mobile LIDAR is a Plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; offer constructive feedback and direction to support goals
