Job Responsibilities:

The American Dental Association is looking for an Intern within the Integrated Marketing & Communications department of our Chicago office to begin in 2023 The internship will be remote and/ or in-person for the semester. This is a paid internship.

The Creative Intern will support the Creative Services team and will engage in a variety of graphic design projects, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting in the creation and revision of marketing materials including flyers, ads, brochures, digital and social content, presentations/webinars and more
  • Assisting with photo sourcing and editing
  • Preparing files for print and web production
  • Performing general administrative duties as assigned
  • Special projects as needed

Must Have:

  • Must be currently working toward completion of a Graphic Design program; preferably with 1-2 years completed and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Link to online portfolio or student work
  • Basic knowledge of typography, color theory, layout and other design fundamentals
  • Experience working in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
  • Experience in Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, problem-solving and time-management skills with strong attention to detail
  • A high level of initiative and eagerness to learn, including working from constructive critique
  • Able to work effectively with a variety of staff within the ADA.

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines

  • Ability to commit to the internship for at least 10 hours a week

Nice to Have:

  • Understanding of working within brand guidelines
  • Digital illustration skills
  • Knowledge of Trello, Basecamp for project management
  • Knowledge/understanding of WebAIM compliance for accessibility
  • Knowledge of animation/motion software such as After Effects
  • Familiarity with video and/or health care marketing through past coursework or other internships
