RESPONSIBILITIES

*Position is based at Naval Station Great Lakes, IL

  • Provide EMT coverage for all physical training evolutions
  • Serve as a source of medical knowledge and instruction with candidates
  • Be prepared to discuss injury prevention, heat/ cold related injuries
  • Be the First Responders in case of emergencies at all training sites
  • Perform any relevant EMT duty in the course of physical and aquatic training modules
  • Must be willing to operate a Company vehicle
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience (within the last five years) as an EMT-Paramedic
  • Must maintain a current and valid registration by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT-P); may hold a State of Illinois EMT Registration in lieu of NREMT
  • Must maintain a current and valid registration as an American Red Cross CPR/FIRST AID Instructor
  • Must maintain a current and valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clear driving record for the last five years
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office required
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem solving skills with an analytical thought process
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is typically based in a busy classroom/training environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Work hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.

Paramedics shall be able to pass the minimum Navy Physical Readiness Standards, with regard to age and sex, with a minimum passing standard of SATISFACTORY MEDIUM, as set forth in OPNAVINST 6110.1H (Physical Readiness Program). This testing shall be conducted within 30 calendar days from date of physical check in. Paramedics shall maintain this standard and be prepared to pass this standard on a yearly basis. Paramedics shall be able to lift, at a minimum, 50 lbs. overhead.
