Job Description

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Research Nurse - Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit/OBGYN
  • Location: Evanston Hospital and 9977 Woods Drive in Skokie
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time (40 hours per week)
  • Hours: 8:00AM-4:30PM
  • Required Travel: Must be willing to travel between Evanston and Skokie sites

We are seeking a Research RN for our close-knit Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit Network team who is eager to participate in research that informs clinical care for birthing people. Current studies include 1) RECOVER trial which is looking to improve understanding of and ability to predict, treat and prevent post-acute sequelae of SARS COV-2 during pregnancy including Long COVID, and following its impact on offspring, 2) A randomized controlled trial of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) for Sleep Apnea in Pregnancy and 3) A randomized controlled trial of Pessary and Progesterone for Preterm Prevention in Twin Gestation with a Short Cervix.

What you will need:

  • License: Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required
  • Education: Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN or MSN strongly preferred
  • Certification: CPR-BLS with the American Heart Association
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of research experience

What you will do:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Be responsible for the daily requirements and overall management of specific clinical research protocols related to Maternal and Fetal Heath while monitoring the safety and well-being of all study participants.
  • Work with IRB and other regulatory groups to start up studies and maintain ongoing research.
  • Assist in identifying, recruiting and enrolling patients for clinical studies.
  • Upon completion of research study certification quizzes, assist and/or lead recruitment and enrollment of participants into the study as outlined in the Manual of Operations and assessment of eligibility (inclusion/exclusion) criteria within the timeline designated by the study protocol.
  • Obtain consent and specimens, administer questionnaires, enter computer data into files, abstract charts, assist in preparation of materials for presentation and publication.
  • Maintain research documentation, communications, confidentiality and all research practices in accordance with established and updated Good Clinical Research Practice (GCP) guidelines and any additional policies.
  • The position maintains a collaborative relationship with Principal Investigators, Co-investigators, interdepartmental and research staff.

  • Special Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of obstetrics/gynecology or prior work in a healthcare setting
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite such as Excel & Word (RedCap is a plus)
  • Self-motivated but also enjoys working in a collaborative/team environment
  • Flexible, problem solver willing to be trained on various non-invasive medical health devices
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to keep up to date with research studies and clinical protocols.
  • Attention to detail is essential, especially as is related to data documentation
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to speak Spanish highly desirable
