Where you will work

The Elwood facility produces bathroom tissue, household paper towels, facial tissue, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. The Clearwater Paper facility sits on 14 acres and boasts over 200 talented employees. The manufacturing process at Elwood is highly automated with 9 converting lines utilizing slitters, rewinders, wrappers, and a variety of laser guided vehicles. Clearwater Paper employees in Elwood are proud to manufacture a high-quality product for an essential industry.

The Village of Elwood is a quaint and vibrant community in the heart of Will County, one of the fastest growing areas in the Midwest United States. What you will do

Operational and Quality Control

  • Works with Shift Managers, Business Unit Leaders (BULs), Technical Resource Trainers, and Department Managers to develop and implement training plans
  • Support the Maintenance and Warehouse teams as needed
  • Acts as a technical writer for all training documentation
  • Schedules and coordinates skills testing for all Qualification Card levels
  • Responsible for DES administration including tests, editing information, and acting as liaison with corporate training
  • Teaches new hire orientation including Total Product Management (TPM), Qualification Cards, etc.
  • Maintains all training files and documentation in accordance with the document retention policy including SOP additions and changes
  • Responsible for Microsoft Access database

Safety and Housekeeping

  • Hold self and others to a high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE)
  • Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate the root cause

What you will need

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Industry-specific (paper manufacturing) experience preferred
  • Internal candidates must have successfully completed Level 3 Qualification
  • Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively between departments and with all levels of staff
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions
  • Capable of creating quality work while meeting deadlines
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and able to drive for results with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, ParcView, and JDE systems
  • Able to work in both an office environment and on the production floor, following all safety procedures
  • Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards
  • Able to wear and comply with all personal protective equipment (eye and ear protection, steel-toed shoes, face masks, etc.)
