Job Summary

School of Social Work Graduate Assistants are assigned to individual Administrative Professionals to assist with the administrative tasks and responsibilities of their positions.

The tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to assisting, planning, and executing:
- Admissions Process
- Recruitment Activities
- Orientation Sessions for Students and/or Internship Supervisors
- Practicum Placement Process
- Social Work Club
- Social Work Themed Living-Learning Community
- School of Social Work Sponsored Events

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$737/month

Required Qualifications

1. Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook which can be found at http://hr.illinoisstate.edu/downloads/GA_Handbook.pdf.
2. Must be a degree-seeking graduate student at Illinois State University.
3. Applicants will have at least a 3.0 GPA.
4. Applicants will already be admitted to or currently enrolled in the School of Social Work at Illinois State University pursuing a Master in Social Work.
5. Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience working with confidential information.
6. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Ability to work well independently.
2. Ability to interact positively and effectively with students and manage student programming.
3. Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Forms, etc.) and comfortability navigating program-specific systems.

Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of on-campus employment for all positions held. International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of on-campus employment when the university is in session but may work up to 28 hours per week when the university is not in session. Please contact the Office of International Student and Scholar Services for guidance on visa restrictions on work hours. The University cannot grant exceptions to visa status rules/laws.
