The Head Teller will assume a leadership role in the oversight and coordination of daily teller/universal banker operations. This position's responsibilities will include overseeing the scheduling and workflow of the staff, ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures, and providing guidance on more complex financial transactions. This role is critical in maintaining a smooth and customer-focused environment while managing cash drawers and fostering a high-performance team. This position will work collaboratively with retail management to achieve overall bank goals, as well as with cross-functional teams including Bookkeeping, Digital Banking, and Treasury Management.

  • Coordinate and oversee the daily branch front-line operations, including directing and delegating work to ensure critical daily activities are completed efficiently and timely, supporting staff through coaching and teaching, and assisting staff with more complex transactions.
  • Execute and oversee the scheduling and time management of teller staff/Universal Bankers to ensure adequate coverage during business hours.
  • Manage and optimize teller workflow to enhance efficiency and customer service.
  • Ensure that teller staff/Universal Bankers adheres to all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits and checks to verify compliance with established guidelines, including bi-monthly cash audits
  • Lead daily execution of the SOAR program expectations at assigned branch, ensuring teller staff/Universal Bankers are following the Brilliant at the Basics approach, while modeling and reinforcing a customer-centric approach to service within the retail team.
  • Provide training to new teller staff/Universal Bankers on operational procedures and customer service standards.
  • Coach and mentor teller staff on an ongoing basis to enhance their skills and professional development.
  • Ensure Currency Transaction Reports and Suspicious Activity Reports, are submitted to the BSA Officer for filing.
  • Process a variety of financial transactions, including but not limited to check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments.
  • Manage and balance the cash drawer, ensuring accuracy and compliance with cash handling policies.
  • Monitor and replenish branch cash supply as needed.
  • Assist in daily balancing of the vault under dual control, and is trained as a backup for the vault banker
  • Completes other duties as assigned or requested
Key Competency Requirements
  • Associate's degree in finance, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a retail role within a banking environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of banking regulations, compliance, and operational procedures.
  • Ability to execute work and lead the team under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates ability to thrive in a fast-paced, on the go environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using banking software and handling various financial transactions accurately.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
