Director, Americas Compliance

Job Description Summary

The Americas Regional Compliance Director will join a developing, dynamic, and talented Global Ethics and Compliance team and advise the business on relevant ethics and compliance topics and issues. This position reports to the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the provision of advice to the businesses and functions on ethics and compliance initiatives
  • Embed a strong culture of ethics and compliance in the Americas including promoting a Speak Up culture.
  • Collaborate with the CECO to develop the strategic direction of the E&C program for the Americas, including developing, maintaining, and constantly improving the program.
  • Help the business integrate Ethics and Compliance into its daily management and strategic planning.
  • Provide timely, accurate and pragmatic advice to relevant stakeholders in the Americas on a range of E&C issues, including working with government officials, use of third parties, due diligence issues, international trade regulations, etc.
  • Ensure alignment of the regional plan with global E&C priorities and sharing of standard processes.
  • Provide guidance on compliance-related matters, and builds and maintains strong working relationships across all functions and levels of the organization.
  • Support compliance training and communications, including tailoring content, audience identification, training delivery, and completion tracking.
  • Conduct risk assessments and monitoring activities in the Americas.
  • Third party risk management - liaise with the business to ensure timely and accurate due diligence/economic sanctions/KYC screening of third parties.
  • Executes on additional projects and workstreams as required to develop and mature the company's Ethics & Compliance Program.
  • Manage and mentor a team of ethics & compliance professionals in the Americas.

Qualifications:

  • JD or equivalent preferred
  • Substantial experience (10+ years) in managing ethics and compliance programs and/or equivalent strategic advisory experience in key ethics and compliance areas such as Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering, International Trade Regulations, Conflicts of Interest, Fraud, Due Diligence and third-party management.
  • Deep understanding of ABC law and practice, together with an ability to apply that knowledge to complex and sensitive scenarios.
  • Self-confidence to take a firm stand and able to seek solutions to complex issues.
  • Strong moral compass and unquestionable integrity.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently, but collaborate with team and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion concerning highly confidential, privileged information.
  • Position is a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL.
  • Regional travel may be necessary, up to 10%.
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are highly preferred.
