THE ROLE

The Research Associate's role is responsible for delivering both candidate and company research strategies and intelligence. This includes conducting targeted market mapping research, providing target company market intelligence, name generation, organizational insights, Board of Directors make up, recent press releases, and any other business development insights. Secondly, to manage the candidate research strategy, candidate identification, and development process for assigned searches.

As a vital member of the search team, the Research Associate has the ability to network with professionals and assist them in achieving their career objectives in organizations committed to improving the quality of life, support the creation of new business development strategies, assess a candidate's skills against a client's needs, and collaborate with colleagues across the firm.

This position reports to the Research Director and will support the Investor-Backed Healthcare and Life Sciences markets. Work will be conducted in a remote or hybrid environment; occasional travel for in-person meetings is required (10-15%).

This position offers a base salary of $52,000 to $70,000, plus a 10% target bonus.Salary within our ranges is determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.WittKieffer offers a full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, life and disability insurances, and generous paid time off.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Research/Information Gathering:

  • Manages research projects associated with search assignments and business development, including monitoring search work coordination, creating, and implementing communication plans, managing issues and risks, and reporting progress.

  • Identifies most appropriate target organizations and candidates using existing internal and external resources and by developing new strategies and resources as needed.

  • Profile development; strategically thinks about executive profiles and how to identify and present candidates.

  • Analyzes organization and candidate profiles to determine the highest priority targets for each assignment.

Candidate Sourcing:

  • Develop potential candidates through active networking within a wide range of organizations and resource tools.

  • Use your understanding of diversity to identify and network with multicultural leaders.

  • Communicate position profile to potential candidates.

  • Work closely with lead consultants as well as Research Delivery/Operations.

Search Execution:

  • Adds newly identified individuals to the WittKieffer database and updates existing database records.

  • Coordinates the sending of search letters with Research Operations colleagues.

Foster Business Partner/Team Relationships:

  • Actively participates in monthly research and associate meetings to share resources and search strategies with colleagues.

  • Initiates a strategy start-up meeting with search team once a new search is booked.

  • Develops a research strategy for each search and communicates with business partners on progress.

  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure successful completion of search assignments.

  • Reviews relevant trade publications and update consultants on key topics of and changes within a given industry.

Knowledge Management:

  • Provides suggestions and input about changes to Research Strategy processes.

  • Documents the research strategies and resources used on each assignment using department standard templates.

  • Builds and documents a network of information sources (i.e., associations, publishers, suppliers, industry colleagues, databases, etc.) to enhance internal research capabilities.

  • Contributes to the growth of the WittKieffer knowledge management repository by suggesting additional resources and developing research tools when resources do not exist.

  • Participates in Research Strategy process improvement efforts.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.

  • Minimum 3 years executive search or research capacity

  • 2-3 years of previous experience with healthcare and/or professional service organizations strongly preferred.

Critical Competencies:

  • Significant previous experience and skill leveraging technology (including working with computer systems, and databases such as LinkedIn, PitchBook, etc.).

  • Strong assessment skills.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
