Job Description


This full-time position will join Heritage's Substance Use Recovery Residential Team to engage and assist individuals in accessing inpatient substance use treatment. The person chosen for this role will be collaborative, flexible, organized, and have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. This position is full time and works collaboratively with clients, referral sources, Heritage staff, and funders.

Responsibilities Include:

* Telephone and face-to-face contact with clients seeking substance use treatment.

* Complete authorizations for admission and continued stay on all client with managed care or private insurance.

* Telephone and face-to-face assessment for individuals seeking substance use treatment services.

* Coordinate access to inpatient substance use programs including detoxification/withdrawal management and residential rehabilitation.

* Maintain positive relationships with referral sources and insurance companies.

* Track admissions, continued stay, and discharges for inpatient residential programs.

* Maintain organized system of reporting and coordinating to the clinical treatment team when clinical reviews are due

* Attend clinical staffing to obtain information for client reviews

* Collaborate with multiple internal providers to coordinate treatment including direct care staff, nursing, counselors, and clinical leaders

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Ability to engage individuals when they are asking for help and decrease barriers to accessing treatment

* Knowledge of behavioral health diagnoses and use of the DSM-5

* Knowledge of substance use and the use of ASAM criteria

* Knowledge of complex client care planning

* Knowledge of case management techniques

* Knowledge of funding sources (HFS, MCOs, private insurance)

* Knowledge of community resources including psychiatric, substance use, medical, and/or other community services

* Effective oral and written communication skills

* Ability to work as a team player

* Strong customer service skills

* Ability to tolerate ambiguity, uncertainty, and change

* Ability to navigate electronic health record

* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Education and Experience:

Ideal candidates will have education and experience working with individuals with a diagnosis of substance use and/or mental health diagnoses. This position requires designation as a Mental Health Professional as defined as 5 years supervised experience in behavioral health, Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS), or a Bachelors' Degree in psychology, social work, or human services. Additionally, the position requires commitment to obtaining certification as a CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) within 2 years of accepting the position.

Valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance is required.
