Job Summary

The role of Program Coordinator for Public Service Programs is to promote the University as a site for meetings and conferences. The position develops, plans, organizes, and implements the promotion of University services and facilities, which include promotion of conference management services, meeting, housing, catering, dining, and related facilities and services to clients involved in educational pursuits and partnerships. This position also develops innovative conferencing programs to promote Illinois State University faculty expertise in developing marketable meetings and conferences and implements Conference Services marketing/action plan and programs.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$40,000 - $50,000 annual, combined with an excellent benefits package

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's or equivalent degree in a field related to the position conferred prior to start date.
  2. Two (2) years of previous sales and/or marketing experience, preferred in conference/meeting planning and development.
  3. Hotel, convention bureau, catering, sales, event or meeting planning experience or equivalent skills as obtained through professional training programs.
  4. Demonstrated experience in marketing programs and services, as well as conceptualizing, planning, coordinating, and evaluating programs, services, and events.
  5. Demonstrated experience in developing conference budgets and tracking expenses.
  6. Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) with experience in interpreting policies and procedures.
  7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  8. Demonstrated organizational and analytical problem-solving skills.
  9. Ability to manage multiple priorities and proactively handle quickly changing priorities.
  10. Experience in data management, spreadsheet and registration software, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and the ability to understand complex online systems.
Work Hours

Core Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday; some evening and weekend hours are required

The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of applicant materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview. The active register for this classification will be voided when the position is filled.
