Summary
The Sales Director is responsible for leading the sales team to drive revenue growth for the company in the Freight Brokerage Industry. This position oversees the development and implementation of the sales strategy, developing strategic partnerships, expanding our customer base, and ensures the achievement of sales targets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue targets and business objectives for the freight brokerage division.
  • Lead and mentor a team of sales professionals, providing guidance, support, and motivation to drive performance and exceed sales goals.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand our customer base and increase market share in the freight brokerage industry.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, carriers, and industry partners.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to clients, understanding their needs and providing solutions to meet their transportation requirements.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify growth opportunities and inform sales strategies.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics, including revenue, customer acquisition, and retention rates.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to develop sales collateral, presentations, and proposals that effectively communicate our value proposition to prospective clients.
  • Create solutions to meet our customers and prospective customer's needs, sometimes complex, leveraging DSV's global resources and Service Catalogue.
  • Lead contract negotiations with customers and carriers to secure favorable terms and agreements that align with company objectives and maximize profitability.
  • Collaborate with DSV's Implementation Team, and with Operations, to ensure successful onboarding, implementation and retention of newly awarded business.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures governing freight brokerage operations, including transportation regulations and industry standards.
  • Travel is required in this role via car or air travel, to visit with customers and direct reports not working in the same office as the employee.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises a team of sales managers and sales representatives.

Educational background / Work experience / Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing or equivalent experience. A master's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in sales management is required, with experience in transportation and logistics industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of FMCSA and DOT a plus
  • Knowledge of various specialties within transportation I.E. Pharma, Oversized, Refrigerated, etc. a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in sales management or marketing, such as from the Sales Management Association or the American Marketing Association

  • Strategic thinking with the ability to develop and execute sales strategies that align with business objectives.

Language Skills

  • Business fluent in English
  • Knowledge of other languages is a plus.

Computer Literacy

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and others)
  • Good knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (MS Dynamics) Tools
  • Experience with CRM systems and other sales management tools

For this position, the expected base pay is: $138,500- $208,000/ Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, geographical location, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
