Position Details:
Title: Special Education Teacher
Location: Chicago Ridge, IL
Duration: SY 2023-24
Onsite/Virtual: Onsite
Position Type: Full-Time
Working Hours: 40 hours weekly, from Monday to Friday
Student Age Group: Junior High
Case Load: 7 Kids
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
Provider specialized instruction to students with disabilities, both in self-contained and inclusive settings.
Regularly assess and monitor student progress.
Implement behavior management strategies to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and specialists.
Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians.
Utilize available resources, materials, and assistive technologies to support student learning.
Participate in ongoing professional development.
Ensure compliance with federal and state laws related to special education.
Promote the inclusion of students with disabilities in regular classrooms.
Qualifications:
A valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education endorsement.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
Previous teaching experience in special education is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of effective strategies for working with students with diverse learning needs.
Ability to adapt to and address the unique challenges and opportunities of a diverse student population.
