Position Summary: This position operates with minimum supervision and instructions. Participate in design, quality, and cost reduction improvement projects to existing products, along with new vendor validation and value-added parts consolidation projects.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Interface with purchasing and vendors in the modification and approval of component parts.
  • Construct and test prototype components or assemblies as required in the change Management, validation, and approval processes.
  • Lead technical side of the project from the idea to the completion of the validation tests.
  • Prepare written documentation of processes, material requirements, test results and project activity as required.
  • Develop schedules, coordinate, and manage projects of minor to major size.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare budgetary and resource information regarding projects or parts of projects in area of responsibility.
  • Provide technical support to sales/marketing and manufacturing of new and existing products and processes.
  • Design components for Medium Voltage switchgear per specification.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Discipline
  • 0 - 3 years of Engineering experience.
  • 0 - 3 years of CAD experience in creating 3D models and 2D prints.
  • Able to use small hand and power tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with 3D CAD software and PDM database system (Creo/Windchill preferred)
  • Experience with project management
  • Root-cause analysis and computer analysis programs (FEA, kinematic & dynamic analysis).
  • Good understanding of statics and material properties.
  • Able to read and interpret technical standards.
