Job Description

Heritage has a full time position working with our representative payee services. The position and department will work with individuals serviced that Heritage has been assigned to be protective representative payee. The primary target population served will be individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, serious mental illness or co-occurring disorder. This primary responsibility will be to reconcile registers to fund's sources at least monthly (or more frequently as applicable). Verify accuracy of transactions register balances by reviewing starting and ending balances, deposits, expenditures, and account balance verification.

Responsibilities Include;

  • Reconcile transaction registers to fund's source (ledgers/etc.) at least monthly or more frequently, as applicable.
  • Verify accuracy of transaction register balances by reviewing starting and ending balances, deposits, expenditures, cash count, and bank card or account balance verification, bringing questions or inconsistencies to program leadership.
  • Conduct routine reviews of account balances and, as indicated, complete high balance alert notifications and take steps to avoid exceeding asset limits to maintain eligibility.
  • Assist with reporting combined asset and account information to benefit entities (e.g., Social Security Administration) as well as collecting and organizing documents for external audits of Representative Payee Accounts.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical.
  • Robust computer skills, including Social Security financial software and databases.
  • Strong ability to: work independently; be accountable for work scheduling and deadlines, and; maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience or understanding of Social Security Income and resources regulations
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability with changes to program needs and schedule as the need arises.
  • Interactions with individuals and fellow staff members are supportive and respectful

Education and Experience:

The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals in behavioral health settings and/or experience working agencies that manage benefits and/or entitlements. Associate's degree in Accounting or Business plus one years' experience preferred; or three (3) years' experience in a similar role plus High School Diploma or GED required.
