Job Description

A Brief Overview:
Under general supervision, is responsible for teaching quality classes for the Community Training Center department.

What you will do:

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to teach Community Training Center classes which may include CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), First Aid, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
  • Communicates effectively with customers and other hospital departments. Informs Supervisor, Community Training Center of any customer complaints and/or issues.
  • Teaches a minimum of two classes per year in each discipline instructor status is held. This includes completion of appropriate course rosters and paperwork and finding own replacement if unable to teach.
  • Adheres to appropriate established curriculum for Community Training Center courses and ensures the use of appropriate course materials.
  • Maintains Instructor status by meeting renewal criteria, including teaching at least 4 courses / 2 years, arranging to be monitored and take exam as well as completing any updates as required.
  • Tailors teaching techniques to the needs of the participants while assuring fair evaluation of each participant.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and updates in the field by reading appropriate memos, AHA materials and literature.
  • Supports Community Training Center and Chain of survival activities within the community.


What you will need:

  • High School Required
  • Some previous teaching/ instructor experience
  • AHA Heartsaver CPR - American Heart Association (AHA) issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross or BLS Instructor Certification Required Or
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Health Association Required
